Matt and I were set up through friends. Our friends were getting married and decided the two of us might be compatible heading into the wedding. After a couple weeks of no communication (Matt’s fault) fate brought us together at a Michigan football game as alumni. Four months later the COVID quarantine shacked us up together, and we have never looked back. Fast forward to our wedding, we wanted a destination, and we wanted it to feel like an adult version of summer camp. This brought us to Lake Oconee in Georgia, which we had no relation to previously (except going on vacation there once), but once we got there we knew it was perfect. Our guests would arrive for the weekend, and not have to leave. They could golf, go to the spa, hang by the pool or the lake and just relax.
Our wedding planner and photographer surprised us with a boat ride directly following our ceremony. It was on a classic wooden boat named “timeless” and we got to enjoy a special moment just the two of us, to take in the day and have a quiet moment before the reception. It was so special, and we also got the most insane photos from it.
Wedding Atelier can do it all, so don’t be afraid to ask if you want something that you don’t see outright in the showroom. I had straps added to my dress, and my bolero was completely custom tailored. They have so many options and are so accommodating. Everyone is so incredibly helpful and kind from the moment you walk in – thank you to Chloe and her team, and shoutout to May (idk how you spell her name so apologies if it’s wrong!) who was just the sweetest, most talented alteration specialist.
