How did you meet and/or what was your wedding day story?
We met at a college party in 2011 during our undergraduate studies. He was hosting the party for our mutual friend. We’ve been together since. After 12 years decided to finally tie the knot!
My husband is from Colombia and we wanted to do something special and close to his family/roots. We have visited Cartagena many times and have fallen in love with the magic of the city. We hosted a 4 day event in Cartagena that included rooftop cocktails, an asado (similar to an American BBQ), the wedding, a beach day, and lots of dancing! Our wedding ceremony took place outside on the fortress wall that surrounds the old city overlooking the Carribean Sea. We then paraded through the streets, a
Cartagena tradition, and took horse carriages to our reception which took place in the courtyard of a local university, Belles Artes. We then ate and danced into the early hours of the morning.
What was the most memorable part of your special day?
Getting to see all of our friends and family meet each other and enjoy beautiful Cartagena, although this was our favorite part of the whole weekend. Our favorite part of the wedding day was to put on traditional Colombian clothing and dance until we were breathless during our crazy hour.
Wedding Atelier Styling Tip
My dress was nothing as I “pinned” or wished for when I was doing research. Listen to your wedding stylist and be open to trying dresses/options outside of your comfort zone as you may find something better than you imagined!
