What was the most memorable part of your special day?
I always had a vision of my father walking me down the aisle. Unfortunately, he couldn’t travel to US because of China’s strict 3-week quarantine period. However, my mother was there by my side, every single step of my way. I remember shaking like a leaf when my wonderful bridesmaids were helping me with my veil and steaming my dress. This was the moment I always envisioned- to walk down the aisle where my husband and I would promise each other in front of God, as one.
Wedding Atelier Styling Tip
Due to Covid, my dress was supposed to arrive on Labor Day weekend, but it was one week late. Carrie, the owner of Wedding Atelier, did numerous calls to the shipping company, DHL and Pronovias. She was so helpful and promising. Imagine the anxiety I’m experiencing because I my wedding dress was late?! My first fitting was exactly 5 days before my wedding day. Everything turned out perfect, as envisioned. Shopping for your dream dress during the pandemic is a real experience. I had no idea what I wanted and looking in a mirror with a mask on, doesn’t really give you the full image of how you will look on your special day. Since I didn’t have a vision, I tried on every silhouette. I made sure to have my mom and friend’s take photos of the front and back of every dress i tried on. I then referenced the photos to look at what silhouette I felt my best in and which accentuated my body. I created a mental pros and cons list for each dress, and when gathering all the pros together and found my wedding dress. At the end of the day, it’s the photos that will be ingrained in yours’ and guests’ minds, so you really don’t want a dress to photograph poorly. This ties into what fabric you like- something more flowy or structured? Then ask yourself if you like bead-work on your dress, or you prefer to have it simple? Lace or no lace? Slit or no slit? The key is to have a great, experienced seamstress. She/ he really knows how to make the dress molds to your body shape and show off what you have! May, the head seamstress at Wedding Atelier did an amazing job with my dress and just days before my big day!
